Intercession Workshop Summary:
Transforming Jersey Through Prayer

On Saturday, 12 January 2025, intercessors from across Jersey gathered for a transformative workshop focused on deepening their prayer lives, equipping them with practical tools, and fostering unity among churches. Guided by Rev Celia Appeagyei-Collins and Dr Sheena Tranter, the day offered profound insights, prophetic encouragement, and actionable strategies for intercession.

#### **Primary Teaching Points**

-

**Understanding Seasons in Prayer:** Rev Celia Appeagyei-Collins emphasised the importance of discerning spiritual seasons. Drawing from 1 Kings 1, she illustrated how the strategy for unseating the enemy involves enthroning Jesus rather than direct confrontation. Intercessors must remain attuned to God’s timing and adapt their prayers to align with His purposes.

-

**The Grasshopper Mindset:** Using Isaiah 32, Rev Celia challenged attendees to reject limiting beliefs that hinder spiritual authority. She reminded intercessors that God’s power is never the problem; it is often our mindset that limits our effectiveness.

-

**The Role of Watchmen:** Dr Sheena Tranter highlighted the role of intercessors as watchmen on the walls, referencing Isaiah 62:6-7. She urged participants to remain vigilant, persistent, and united in prayer, recognising their role as spiritual guardians of their communities.

-

**Becoming Prisoners of Hope:** Rev Celia drew from Zechariah 9, encouraging attendees to become “prisoners of hope.” She explained that intercession must be fuelled by a hopeful expectation of God’s promises, even in the face of resistance or delay.

-

**Unity Across Churches:** Both speakers stressed the importance of collaboration among churches. Practical discussions and testimonies reinforced the need for a unified body of Christ to pray and act as one.

#### **Key Takeaways**

-

**Prayer as Strategy:** Intercession is not just a spiritual exercise but a strategic act that enthrones Jesus and displaces spiritual opposition.

-

**Aligning with God’s Timing:** Effective prayer requires an understanding of the seasons and a willingness to adapt.

-

**Celebrating Victories:** Attendees were encouraged to mark and memorialise spiritual breakthroughs, strengthening their faith for future battles.

-

**Practical Tools:** The workshop provided actionable steps for intercessors, including forming prayer groups, identifying spiritual strongholds, and partnering with angelic movements.

-

**Collaboration Beyond Denominations:** The unity demonstrated among churches at the workshop served as a model for ongoing collaboration in prayer and action.

#### **Calls to Action**

-

**Commit to Persistent Prayer:** Intercessors were challenged to “give God no rest” until His purposes for Jersey are established (Isaiah 62:6-7).

-

**Unite Across Churches:** Churches are encouraged to foster partnerships for collective prayer and action.

-

**Embrace Hope:** Adopt a mindset of hope, believing in God’s ability to transform even the most challenging situations.

-

**Engage in Practical Intercession:** Identify specific needs within Jersey—in government, education, healthcare, and families—and intercede with intentionality.

-

**Raise the Next Generation:** Equip younger believers with the tools and understanding to carry the mantle of intercession.

As the day concluded with a powerful time of worship and commissioning, the participants left inspired and equipped to stand in the gap for Jersey. Together, they declared that this island would become a “house of prayer for all nations” (Isaiah 56:7).
