For those who want to know a bit more:
Burkina Faso in north west Africa is one of the poorest countries in the world. We have been sending groups out since 2007 and we have built playgrounds, a shop, a community building and painted murals on the walls of a local school and the Compassion classrooms. In 2013 the church purchased a piece of land in Bobo (The 2nd largest city in the country) and committed to standing with Samuel our dear friend out there in a 10 year plan. We have since built 6 primary school classrooms, toilet blocks, a pharmacy and administration block. We have also seen local charity Well water drill a well to provide clean water for the local population.
2017's project is to build 3 nursery classrooms for 5/6 year olds before they move into the primary school. Children in this school are guaranteed a meal every day and are educated in classes of about 50 children compared to the government schools which have in excess of 100 pupils in a class!
In the coming years we will be building a medical centre, secondary school and technical college.
Our annual fundraiser for this project is our charity ball. Have a great night out and also raise money for children who have nothing but are so keen to learn, to better themselves and to get out of the poverty that they were born into.
Come along and be part of a table or make up a table of your friends. Let us know if you want to come.
